Everyone loves parlor tricks; so try to impress your friends with your knowledge of a power cord that you have never seen before. To do this trick, find a power cord, whether it be to your computer or your TV, and look at the indentations that are molded into the cord. All you have to do impress your friends is read the markings discreetly and then start rattling off that cord’s specifications, including its individual manufacturer UL reference number, details about the wires inside, the jacket material and the maximum temperature it can reach before its damaged. You can even get fancy and tell them the type of flame test that was used to determine the flammability of the wire.
Performing this trick is easy, as long as you know the meaning of the markings. If you use the following chart to guide you, you can impress all your friends by showing them what you know about a power cord, without ever having seen it before.
